Pendants and Neckpieces...

These are a few of our fave pendant and neckpiece commissions...

Herbie's Pendant
I collaborated with a 4 years old on this piece.. I was given this little fellow's drawing (a spider in his web, see below) and was asked to make a pendant for his Mother. I didn't want to change a thing as thought the drawing was perfect, it has such beautiful simplicity. I got completely absorbed in it and slavishly copied the weight and direction of the lines, even the outline had to be exact, although slightly tilted to give the piece a better drop. The Sapphire representing the 'Spider', was taken from a Grandma's engagement ring. I'll look forward to working with this young man in the future, he has a wonderful eye!.

Oxidised silver with Sapphire.
The original drawing.

Wisteria Birthday Pendant
This piece was to be given to mark a significant birthday. Inspired by her love of Wisteria and Lilies, I wanted the piece to have a Victorian Fob watch kind of feel to it, hanging it from a long Barley Corn Chain just like a watch would have done.  Her birthstone, Emerald, is set in the base of the piece as a kind of secret to the wearer.
 Oxidised silver with Emerald.

Talisman
A profesional guitarist asked me to set this charm into one of our classic plectrums, stamped with his personalised text. He is constantly traveling overseas, so I had to make it in between trips as he never steps foot on a plain without it!.

Tench Art Spitfires
I recently bought a collection of original Trench Art spitfires which totally inspired me to add to our growing collection of charms. Our Keys, Arrows and Rex's Pieces of Eight, have been hugely successful over the years and like the other's, the origianals have been handmade to my own unique design, casting them to make an affordable treat. I made the original Spitfire exactly as the soldiers would have, from a single disc, folded and cut like a paper aeroplane. I have big plans for these little planes, watch this space for boy's christening gifts, gold versions, cloud partners and many more..

Talking of which, here's just one example of how our Pieces of Eight can be used for the ever elusive male gift idea!
Mini chunky dog tags in solid silver
A set in sold 9ct gold.

  Baby's Hair Pendant
This piece was to be given to a Grandma and is our modern version of a dated locket idea. Tiny strands of a new born babies hair were set behind an Aquamarine stone, the babies birthstone.

Nature Inspired Pieces

Bee Eater Pendant
This pendant was given to mark a very special event. Back in the summer, the very rare Bee Eater bird was discovered nesting on our very own Isle of Wight. This was huge deal and twitchers traveled from across the country to view the fledgling chicks. The hand pierced piece made from oxidised silver with granulation detail was given to the guy that discovered the nest.

 Meerkat and the Moon
Given to a Meerkat lover!. Oxidised silver with hand pierced overlay.

Sharks Tooth Pendant
This un-believable story written in the customers own words...

'My boyfriend is a skipper for the Clipper Round the World Race.  Recently their rudder was attacked by a fairly large shark!  On investigation when they reached Singapore they found that some of the sharks teeth were still embedded in the rudder.  I now have one of these teeth and thought it would be great to make it into a pendant for him as a unique memento of his race'.

Open Book Pendant
Inspired by our Book pendants made back in the summer, a customer comissioned one for his wife to celebrate their 25th Silver Wedding Anniversary. The words chosen by himself expertly engraved by our very own Island based hand engraver, Peter Harris.

Chessell Pottery Strawberry Tea Pot
This piece was made to give to a very special employee, leaving Chessell Pottery. She had worked for many years at Chessell and her colleges wanted to bid her a fond farewell with a reminder of her time there.
Solid silver set with Rubies (representing strawberries of course!).

 Lilypad Pendants
A little sneak preview of a re working of our Lilypad collection soon to be available.

Modern Locket
Inspired by a piece I made for a lock of my son's hair some time ago, a customer wanted to have a locket made to mark the passing of her beloved pet dog Phoebe. As anyone who's ever lost a pet dog knows, losing them can be like losing a family member.

A lock of Phoebe's hair set inside the box, her Amethyst birth stone set on the front of the piece.

That's all of the neckpieces for now!! There's plenty more to come including bangles and bracelets, male gifts to some weird and wonderful pieces..

As usual, if you would like to commission a special piece, then please phone ahead to make an appointment. I'm working away from the shop in my new workshop at the mo to enable me to keep up with such high demand. Humble Apologies but a whole lot of rings!

Without sounding like a confession, we at Honeybourne Jewellery have had our busiest year to date so huge apologies for the very late Blog post...

At the beginning of the year, we were hit by a Sherlockology jewellery tidal wave and were sending out hundreds of parcels worldwide. We also made a Sherlock inspired collection for our first ever overseas suppliers, Japanese on-line fashion magazine InRock.

We were also very proud to be asked to make two very special silver bookmarks for Sophie Cornish and Holly Tucker, founders of on-line giants 'Not on The High Street' to celebrate the launch of their second book 'Shape Up Your Business'.

Then the exciting Kate Moss piece propelled us further.. Kate has been seen still wearing the piece, apparently hasn't taken it off.. 'The Eye' has been featured in Look, Grazia and OK to name but a few magazines..

All of this (very welcome!) attention has meant that our order box has been more jam packed than ever before, resulting in no time to share our gorgeous creations designed and handmade for our customer's... To make life a little easier, I'm going to write a series of micro blogs in easy to digest chunks over the next couple of weeks...

A dainty silver hammered band with 18ct yellow gold pod, setting a Ruby facet.

My classic Stacking Bands. Solid 9ct white gold bands with 18ct yellow gold bezel setting the diamonds to be worn as a stack but work beautifully in their own right.

Indulgent Treat Rings (and why not!)

A collection of rings made for a customer who didn't have an exact idea in mind other than she wanted 'chunky with 2 or 3 different colours'. I got a little carried away! Silver, 9ct, 18ct and Ruby.
