Santa's little helpers and our new Honeybourne jeweller!

Honeybourne Jewellery would like to introduce the very talented Miss Ella Baxtor to our growing team. Under our wing, she has created these beautiful bird pieces using our classic Honeybourne imaging and style. She has used piercing and granulation techniques to add detail to the hammered oxidised silver domes. Here's to lots more creative creations in 2013 Ella!

Raff and I really should have some Santa's little helper outfits made for next year as we've been super busy creating lots and lots of Christmas commissions these last few weeks... Obviously we can't post them just yet as they're hopefully still sitting under the tree!! But below are a few pieces that I've been working on for the shop...

'I Love You' Bangle
Double Hare and Moon bangle
Single Hare and Moon bangles

'Meadow' pendant with matching earrings in oxidised silver
'Tiny Moon' pendants

See you soon for those last minute Christmas gifts.....Ho ho ho X

We Did It!!!!!

Well, we finally have our gorgeous new look shop! It was a lot of hard work but we managed to pull it off (thanks a million Dad!!!!!!) We proudly opened our doors on Saturday and were overwhelmed by the response. The most over used word of the day was 'WOW'.... We thank Ced Wells of AJ Wells for designing our beautiful new sign (brought tears to our eyes when it finally went up!) and for the stunning fair trade Bodj tiles handmade in Cambodia.

Our cabinets are heaving with our many new collections, Russian Doll pendants, my new Honeycomb range, my Hare and Moon pieces and lots lots more. My personal fave, solid silver wall mounted pictures the perfect gift for that person who has everything!

New to our cabinets are a beautiful collection of embroidered brooches depicting scenes from nature handmade by fashion based Kat Ball. They're mounted in tiny wooden frames and are stunning pieces of art in their own right. Raff and I have also picked a gorgeous new selection from London based brand Tatty Devine, including wooden fox brooches and vintage look cat pendants.

Thanks again to everyone that helped Raff and I..... Bring on the Christmas rush, we're ready for you!!.

Hot out of the furnace

Just received the first picture of our new enameled sign from the very talented Mr Ced Wells of AJ Wells...... V excited!!

But shedding a tiny tear at the thought of taking our old sign down from the equally talented Miss Tania Dixcey. I'll never forget looking out of our kitchen window to see my gorgeous new sign arriving poking out the back of Tim Boogaloo's convertible Saab, a beautiful yet scary site!. We thank you old sign, you've done us proud..

September treats and even more diamonds!!

Here are some of our fave commissions we've been busy working on during Autumn.....

Tweet Tweet
These oxidised solid silver cufflinks were made for the manager of Robin Hill! We had permission (of course!) to used the RH logo.

Copy Cat
It's very rare that I'd take on a 'copy' job but this I couldn't resist!. A customer brought in this plated bangle with cross charm that she dearly loved but the plate was starting to wear off. My version was made from chunky solid silver with a hammered finish.

Up-cycling a go go....

Triple Stacking Band
This chunky but dated band set with three good sized diamonds but was in need of re-vamping!. I used 9ct white gold for the bands, setting the stones in my signature pods using the 18ct yellow gold from the the original ring. The result...... three modern stacking rings to be worn together or separately.

Sapphire Pod Pendant

A lovely lady brought in a bunch of old pieces that she wanted made in to a pendant. Here's the result... Solid gold with granulation and Sapphire made entirely from the pieces below.

Statement Engagement Ring

Five old gold rings with huge stones were given to me to make this engagement ring. The couple, due to be wed at the end of this year, wanted a truly one off piece. I used 9ct yellow gold for the bands and settings, using white gold granulation beads to add contrast to the design. Looking forward to making the wedding bands for the lovely couple any day now

 Eagle Cuffs
These cufflinks were left to a lovely customer and friend of the shop by her grandfather. The brief was very loose, she just wanted to incorporate the eagle in to a neckpiece. I used oxidised silver, with random sized hammered loops that echoed the size of the pearl and giving it a rock and roll edge (she's very rock and roll!). She loved it.

Best Friends
This was a really lovely job to be asked to do. A modern, grown-up version of a 'best friends' pendant for a lady to give her oldest friend on her birthday. She wanted the pieces (one for each of them of course, genius!) to make a heart when joined together but to be beautiful pieces in their own right. I used formed silver with 9ct granulation, setting the ladies birthstones Opal and Aquamarine. Best friends forever.

That's all for now..... We're super excited and gearing up for our shop re-fit and will be closing 3rd November, re-opening with the new look Honeybourne Jewellery boutique jam packed with new collections on the 10th. See you then X

Diamonds, gypsies and a NEW SHOP!

Hi all! Some new commissions, Bestival adventures and shop re-opening! Exciting stuff as we look towards the Christmas season.

First up, 'Sue's ring'. A great commision to get my teeth into provided by a fab lady with some sentimental stones. Two beautiful diamonds set in silver using the leftover 18ct gold for granulation. She loved it and sent me a huge bunch of gorgeous flowers, the card read 'I love it, every time I look at it, it makes me smile and cry'.

Wedding Cufflinks

These cufflinks were ordered by a bride, to give to her husband-to-be on their wedding day. One way to ensure he remembers the anniversary!

Modern locket

Commission for a lovely young lady who loved the bird designs on my enamel door plates. Silver with oxidisd dome to enhance the main design.

21 years

A beautiful 21st birthday ring commission; in loose, brief Honeybourne style this chunky ring incorporates a key, and as an extra surprise I added 21 little beads which encase it.

Eternity ring

An 18ct white gold band with blue and pink sapphires acts as the symbol of a couple's commitment. The stones reprsent the children; two boys and one girl!

Sun & Moon

A lovley young man ordered this Sun & Moon piece as a surprise for his girlfriend's birthday. I used silver with 9ct gold granulation beads for the sun, echoing the texture on the moon.

A regular customer that holidays on the Isle of Wight during the summer brought in her 'tired' moonstone ring and wanted the Honeybourne magic to provide a new lease of life for it. To do this we enhanced the moonston by setting it between a green amethyst and blue topaz alongside three 18ct gold granulation beads.

Keep Believing

This number came in to be 're-designed' as a concept for a 21st birthday gift. I used solid 9ct gold overlay, forming the tiny message 'keep believing', set with a pink sapphire. I found this a lovely inspirational piece to work on.

In addition to commissions this month we've just returned from Rob Da Bank's Island music festival, Bestival with a Honeybourne pop-up shop where Raff was turning out quirky, beautiful charms for lots of interesting faces over the weekend. We were situated in the 'gypsy camp' with buskers and other craftspeople; we had a lot of fun, thanks Bestival!

In other news, we're planning a re-fit of the boutique in Church st to celebrate Sophie coming back to work from maternity leave! Expect a new look Honeybourne Jewellery Shop, a new feel and of course some super special lovely new collections to go along with all the fun. We'll be closed for just one week (the first) in November ready for Christmas and all your seasonal wishes!

Lots of love,

Sophie x
