Charnwood Collaboration update

This Monday Ced Wells and Annie Leonard went along to the A.J Wells Studio in Newport to shoot the final ideas for the 2010 collaboration Calender. Annie created a layered forest from 2d cut paper pieces in animal, shrubbery and tree forms creating an environment in which my silver stove stood. The shoot went well with a few minor hiccups involving extra strong masking tape and fanning smoke away from inside the stove (so not to set off the fire alarm!).

The aim of the shoot was to create one landscape image (to initially be the front cover of the calender) and a secondary portrait shot to be the possible December feature. The Charnwood company, and Ced in particular, have been known for their quirky product presentation in the past- and this was no exception! Un-edited shots straight from the shoot are shown above (click on them- better viewed larger) to give you an idea of the outcomes, the finished calender will be out by the end of this year. Well done everyone!

Rings

This week I finished some eternity rings to celebrate the birth of a 1st child. The finished result was two different styles- the first, in oxidised Silver and the second in 9ct Gold and Silver. Take a peek!

Charnwood Calender Collaboration

This week I finished a minature silver stove for use in a collaborative project between myself, good friend Ced Wells and Annie Leonard. The Stove will make up an element of the front cover of the 2010 Charnwood Calender, and is planned to be placed against a background of wonderful woodland themed paper cut silouhettes and scenery. The final image is hoped to be realised by Mid-November and all involved are highly enthusiastic about the project, see the feautured stove in the image below.

I've been working on a new collection which will make it's debut at 'Origin' (Week 2, Stand D1).

It is made from oxidised silver with gold leaf and cold enamels in berry shades.

The main neckpiece is designed to be interchangeable and can be worn long, short, or clustered.

New Cabinet!!

My friend Hannah found this lovely little cabinet by the side of the road, it had a sign next to it saying "free to good home, in need of TLC". It's had a make over and looks very pleased with itself. Now home to my new collection of bespoke bookmarks to be either be sold on their own or with a vintage book. Books include fairy tales, history, poetry etc, the bookmarks shown have quotes taken from the books.

What I'm Making Today........

I'm working on a wedding present for my friends Ced and Marie, whilst testing out an idea for a collection that I have. The piece is made of two separate bookmarks, when you bring them together they form a heart with the lyrics from 'I'll be Your Mirror' by Lou Reed.

What I am listening to - The Dodos

I've been listening to The Dodos check out their myspace page here

Commission of the Week

Commissioned by a metal detector for his wife, this 22ct solid gold denture was found on the Island. It wasn't the most pleasant or easiest of jobs but satisfying all the same. Lots of rolling mill action and brute force. I added silver to pick out the detail in the lily stamens. Had just enough to make a pair or matching studs. Couldn't save the tooth!

Our House and Shop Photo Shoot

We've been busy putting together an editorial with the help of our lovely friend Ced Wells... Have a butchers....

Broken Wing

Things have slowed down a little since breaking my wrist.

I've just had to cancel a trade show in New York (not to mention the free BA Business Class flight, argh, forever destined to fly economy)...

The up-shot being that i can absorb changes of the on-coming summer and dust off my sketch books in preparation for some new work....yay!
